Big surf has moved into San Diego and will be here the rest of the week. I never tire of going to see it, feeling the energy.

I was surprised to see the pier still open, as the first set I saw was crashing at the low point in the pier. Later on, a bigger set rolled in, reaching the top of the pylons out at the end of the pier that is currently closed.
A few surfers were out, paddling like hell to catch up to the waves, sometimes catching a rocket and holding on for a few seconds of their lives.


A seal was out there, too, along with endless flights of brown pelicans. What majesty, those birds are.
