CAMTB/Advocacy in Mountain Flyer Issue 82

Out now in Issue 82 of Mountain Flyer is a piece I wrote on the decades-long mountain biking advocacy work of Susie Murphy. From volunteering with the Mountain Bike Assistance Unit at Cuyamaca Rancho State Park to Girlz Gone Riding to 10 years as Executive Director of San Diego Mountain Biking Association to her now “retirement” work with California Mountain Biking Coalition, and more, Susie is a change leader, without question.

I met Susie not too long after moving to San Diego 13 years ago at a gathering for MBAU/Cuyamaca volunteers and friends. Fun, always asking the right questions, and down-to-earth, she finds a way to get others to see the viewpoints of mountain bikers and to understand that we do deserve a seat at the decision-making table when considering public lands management.

If you’re a San Diego mountain biker, or any trail user for that matter, as she is a believer in shared access, and you see her about town, say thanks and buy her a glass of whatever she’s drinking! Heck–if you’re a California mountain biker and you see her around the Golden State, do the same.
