Having been to the north end of Joshua Tree National Park a couple of times, I decided I wanted to enter from the south side and see what’s down there. Lost Palms Oasis Trail seemed like it would be a good introduction. It was, providing no disappointments.
3.7 moderate hiking miles long, with vast back country camping space, the trail undulates across the desert floor. It’s pretty much perfect for losing your mind.

Out there, the wind blew and went wherever it goes.
At the “end” of the trail is the palm canyon, this kind of palm being the only one that is native to California.
