Looking for a little getaway? All is lining up for a desert wildflower super bloom, an “epic” display of Mother Nature, a magical moment in the eastern portions of San Diego County. When? Mid-March might be the peak moment, depending on weather. Lots of winter rain, and more coming this weekend, have the soil nice and wet/moist, as much as 6 inches deep.
I cannot wait! I got a little taste of it over the past few winters:
Already this winter here in town at Mission Trails, a few wildflowers are emerging, including chocolate lilies!
And up in the Lagunas, there’s lots of water, which should make for great mountain wildflowers!
Happy wildflower season, everyone!
