With all of the rain of late, riding trails was not possible. Guided around the back roads of San Diego County by a friend, with a start from the Julian Pie Company, I got to see some breathtaking scenery I did not know existed in San Diego County. It was one of the most beautiful rides I’ve even been on, anywhere.
The most positive thing about it is that the San Diego River Park Foundation was able to protect and preserve an important area of the watershed: the upper reaches. It’s called Eagle Peak Preserve Conservation Area. Cedar Creek Falls hike is out that way.
So darned pretty …
Thirty miles of connecting dirt and paved roads, going from 40 degrees F to shedding all the under layers at the bottom to then being soaking wet from sweat after the climb back out and having to put the layers back on up top, arriving back at the Julian Pie Company where it was 48 F for the afternoon high.
A splendid day in beautiful San Diego County, it was!
