It’s been a while since I’ve read a book that completely altered my worldview, this time being how I perceive the history of the southern U.S. The State of Jones took everything I learned about the Deep South, especially Mississippi, during the Civil War and turned it upside down. I’m glad it did! Now I have a book to refer people to when they tell me that the “south shall rise again.”
