Trails Magazine is a newer indie print magazine focusing on hiking/backpacking, primarily, but also gets in some other angles with articles on wildlife, photography and bike packing, as examples. It was started by a writer who was with Backpacker before it was gobbled up by Outside.
Trails is spectacular. The writing and photography is second-to-none. I am stoked and honored to have an article in the current issue, #8, which is their first photography issue. My article is on the Appalachian Trail 1/2-gallon Challenge that takes place at the general store in Pine Grover Furnace State Park, PA, not far from where I grew up.
Half-gallon challenge? Thru-hikers consume a half-gallon of ice-cream in one sitting! Check it out in Trails and subscribe to support indie print media: https://trailsmag.net/
