In the latest edition of Bicyclist Magazine, on page 23, is a little profile I did on local San Diego mountain biker, trails advocate, community member, etc/you name it … Pete Gonzalez. An excerpt:

In every mountain biking community around the USA, there are handfuls of people working behind the scenes to improve the trail experience for all recreationists. Some are working with local and regional land managers on access issues. Others carry out the toiling work of trail building and maintenance.  They plan, organize and facilitate major events, e.g. races and festivals, so that we can have a good time. Funds are raised and monies are counted and budgeted. Much of this happens and we do not see it.
