The first time around, I saw them out in the desert where Joshua trees grow. I wasn’t aware then that when Son Volt takes the stage, they come at your full throttle from start to finish. There isn’t much in the way of talk. They play their music, straight up. Recent albums may lend one to think that they’d play a bit of a honky tonkin show.
Nope.
The steel guitar was there and was played, but again Son Volt came out and ripped the audience’s faces off with their loud guitars.
Loved every second of it!
