When the text-invite came in for a Sunday ride in the desert, I was in. No questions asked. After rolling on snow with the 3.8 inch tires, I wanted to see how they’d do on sand. Follow-up text messages said we were going to bike up Pinyon Mountain Road (desert two-track) to the drop-off. I had not ridden this area yet, so I was really looking forward to it.
Riding with local mtb vets was a blast, as it always is. Years of experience and knowledge of the land is an added benefit of riding with them. The outing was super-positive.
Highlights:
Rolling the squeeze.
Exploring a side canyon, only to get turned back.
Lunch surrounded by so much beauty.
The fat tires performed as people say they do–perfect for the desert.
