We finally went to Monte Alban. Previous trips to Oaxaca ended without us getting on the bus that goes up to the 2000 year old Zapotec site. We made sure that that wasn’t going to happen again.
Monte Alban, for me, was all about the sky. Atop the leveled off mountain, the city sits surrounded by sky from nearly all vantage points. Indeed, the architecture and history is/was impressive, but I’ll add: so were the sky views. I can only imagine what it would be like up there on a clear night.
