Paraguay’s landless people, humans without a home in their homeland to be who they are, take over land because they have no other option. Prior to the coup, a government effort did try to provide some Paraguayos a peaceful resettlement. At the same time, government programs allowed for corporate interests to take over immense tracts of land, displacing families.
