Balloons on Oaxaca’s Alameda

Oaxaca’s Alameda on the northwest side of the zocalo is a place to revel in one of life’s joys:  children playing.  In the moment, watching kids loft balloon-like tubes of various colors ranging from three feet long to as many as ten offers anyone sitting, standing or walking nearby the wondrous opportunity to smile from the inside.  The cathedral as backdrop, little human beings chase after their balloon, catching it only to launch it back into the sky and chase again.  It’s a beautiful scene, one that reminds me to never lose sight of my own inner child.
