It seems there’s a growing sentiment out there against riding tubes. I ride tubeless too, but I’ve not been convinced that it’s the be-all-end-all. Mostly, I ride tires that are on sale, and always, I carry a tube, sometimes two, when I’m riding. I’ve gashed a tubeless or two over the years while in the back country, and a tube was my salvation.
Basically, what I’m saying is: there’s no need to bad mouth tubes. We all carry them to get us out when we flat. Let’s give ’em some love.
Patch kits too!
(I’m currently riding a patched tube out back that went around Indiana’s AHT for 24 miles, and bumped and sliced through Michaux for three days.)
