Poetry Say Something

War and Daily Life

I wanna run away from

The thought that people are

Dying so that I can be

A free American

          *****

I watched ken burns’ the war

And I got goose bumps and

For moments I really believed

But believed in what

          *****

That bullets and bombs and

Mortars and tanks and

Blood and guts spilled

In the name of freedom

Will result in peace

          *****

Peace will not exist as

Long as humans seek

Greed and power and wealth

          *****

That’s how it is, unfortunately

And so I take solace in the

Bending tree at dusk just

Before the final light fades
