Make it a Great Day

In all my work/travels, one thing seemed the same no matter where or in what kind of dwelling a person was living in: there was an understanding that if a person can improve their life and the lives of their loved ones, as well as community members, they would do so. It seems to me that human beings move towards something that might be described as “comfort.” What hinders them is access to resources, which includes money, and other people’s greed.

Comfort: A warm bed. Clean and working/functioning plumbing. Refrigeration. Potable water. Food to eat the next morning. A chair to sit in and talk with a neighbor who is also sitting in a chair. A few extra coins to attend a festival. A stereo speaker with music in the background. (And, of course, not forgetting education, human rights, etc.)

How much is too much, though? When do we say Ya Basta?

That’s what I’m thinking about this morning while having a cup of coffee. A little much for this time of day? Perhaps so … I don’t know …

In the meantime, let’s all try to make it a great day, for ourselves … and for others, if we can … in a safe manner amidst the pandemic.

social distance. get outside. say HELLO to the trees.
be still. smile. offer positive thoughts.
