Travel memories rarely are of the time spent taking a photo of a famous site. Instead, they are interacting and sharing a common experience with local people living their lives and having the fortune of getting to share a moment of it with them.
I’ll not soon forget, I hope, the day spent riding with a group of good-humored mountain bikers while in Oaxaca. They heartily welcomed me into their group, which I found to be so refreshing in their chiding of each other during the ride, and their support of each other to get up, through, and down the mountain as one unit. Lots of laughter echoed around the trees, as well as lots of hoots and hollers!
