Rollin’ Fat in the High Mojave–Trona Pinnacles and Ridgecrest

Three days of riding and two nights of camping in the High Mojave was a good time.  Having not been back since leaving in 2001, starry nights at the Pinnacles reminded me to not allow another 16 years to pass before going back the next time.

Cold winter nights and warm sunshine days are a perfect time to pedal fat tires in the high desert.  We had the added bonus of snowy mountains all around us while on the trails.  The southern Sierra Nevada and Panamint ranges were all dressed up in beautiful white.

The local riding crew in Ridgecrest showed us around behind the community college.  I used to bike there back in 2000-01.  Today, there’s a whole lot more to ride.
