It’s not a difficult hike, more like a walk, or a casual stroll up through an alluvial wash. The rock walls gradually narrow and the sound of water comes within ear shot. Less than an hour after stepping out from the trailhead at the campground by the visitor center, you arrive to one of the many lush, green, palm oases that are scattered throughout Anza-Borrego.
We didn’t see any bighorn sheep this time around, not even through the binoculars up on the cliffs. Maybe next time, we will.
